If you focus purely on Gon losing his nen and getting mummified and cured by Alluka, sure. The story pretty strongly implies he will learn nen again. But the real loss for Gon was the destruction of his friendship with Killua. Killua still orchestrates the plan to heal Gon but there is a clear gulf in their relationship after Gon blew up on Killua. Gon doesn't follow Killua at the end of the election arc, he goes up the tree to meet Ging and goes back to whale island to bum around while Killua's adventure continues elsewhere.

These two stuck together for the whole story but Gon hurt Killua in a way his walnut brain in incapable of processing and seriously damaged their friendship. Killua spends their entire journey insecure about his friendship with Gon and in two minutes during palace invasion Gon absolutely shits on all the shit Killua was struggling with. Gon bumming around with his mom instead of being out on adventure is consequence. He is literally right back where his journey started with fuck all to show for it and his bro for life just fucked off without him. All because he completely chimped out over an ant.
