Male vtubers have the same problem that A LOT of indies have. They think that vtubing is just streaming with an anime avatar.
They need to understand that there is a huge idol influence in this stuff.

Are there male idols? yeah, but female ones are massively bigger than them. And it's not just because men like idols more than women. It's because idols tend to portray larger than life characters, it's because the grind and the struggle appeal to women who see themselves but exaggerated.

And since vtubing is almost a way for normal people to see the life of their idols, to see them play minecraft or whatever, it's hard for a male one.

THAT SAID, >>105779183 is right. Being a gamer is fine if you want to stream the same game over and over and you are good at it. This is how a lot of male streamer started, they were carried by one game and then expanded once they built a fanbase.
But it doesn't work with vtubing. The fact that men are awful at designing themselves fictionally makes this even worse.

Like, look at this picture. Women look at this and think yeah she's literally me. Men look at this and think they are cute.
Do we have to look at male design male main characters from romance anime, or you recognize the difference?
