Does Homestuck really need to be didactic? I don't need the story to turn to the camera and say 'cheating is bad, mmkay?'
There's a certain, sort of irrational response I see when the subject of infidelity comes up in a story. People go apeshit. Which, I can understand, whether it's from hurtful personal experiences or just a strong moral disgust at the concept of betraying someone's trust like that. But these are fictional events, and violence, murder, even rape often do not elicit the same kind of response that cheating does in people. I've seen people get frothing mad at learning an artist does NTR pornography.
Is it the idea that it's OOC for the characters to do that? I won't necessarily disagree, halfway. I find Jade's characterization in the Epilogues and HS^2 a little muddled and confused, though one could say the ending of Homestuck left her off in a position to be muddled and confused and directionless.
Doesn't seem TOTALLY out of Rose's wheelhouse though.
