Lukashenko explained why he is not helping Putin in the war against Ukraine:

We have 1,500 kilometers of border with Ukraine. <...> Russia understands that it would be difficult for us to hold this border, considering that not only Ukrainians would be fighting against us along those 1,500 kilometers - it would also become a pretext for NATO troops to enter Ukraine. <...> And then we would have to fight against NATO troops directly, and Russia would have to join in along the 1,500 kilometers bordering Belarus.
It wouldn't be drones anymore - they would hit Belarus with missiles. And that's right next door; it's not all the way to the Urals. It's very close - 200 kilometers. We understand this, and the Russians understand. This isn't North Korea - here it's two minutes, and that's it."
