>Surely it wasn't hard to make a few more Chimera's by changing their colour and spell list etc.
If you're going to pad out the roster with chimeras then it seems like a wasted opportunity not to play around with the design more. Instead of hueshifting the chimera 2 or 3 times, you could have different types of lion/goat/snake that are swapped in when a chimera is spawned.
>viper-tailed
>hooded snake-tailed
>constrictor-tailed
>markhor horned goat, etc
That way, you see a chimera, you see it's meaningfully different and it prepares you to fight it a different way. Maybe you're familiar with the lion and snake types, but then the goat rams a pawn off the lion's back violently and proceeds to buff the lion's speed.
DD's monster design has always been topnotch and DD2 taking efforts to further distinguish monsters from their subspecies is one area I'd consider an improvement.
