American excuses to not having high speed trains:
- we are a “low trust society” (too many black people)
- airplanes are faster (I want to show up at the airport 90 mins before my flight and go through security)
- trains are too expensive to build and operate (and we might need to send that money to Israel)
- property laws will make this impossible to build (and we only do eminent domain to build highways for the car lobby, not for railroads)
