Fantasy is easy to write because there are no rules and magic bullshit can just happen at the whim of the author.

Sci-fi comes with at least the pretense of the rules of reality, which makes the majority of it fall into either VR or surgical body horror. But when it's good, it's good; I played Silent Echo recently and it was a breath of fresh air.
