The Blood of Kaine has created a new, relatively recent addition to the Antediluvian World: the Ken. It's said that Kaine, before his disappearance to parts unknown, sired many offspring who were monstrous terrors to ancient man. It's said that Yahweh, or Mithras, or even Jacob, cursed the very blood of Kaine so that all children he sired would become cursed beings of darkness who hid from sunlight and preyed upon early man. They're perplexing beings to the scholars of the time who have a multitude of differing ideas over their nature.
>Atlanteans: they simply do not understand these things. Despite creating many wonderous things, the parasitical nature and existence of these things and their preference for human flesh frightens the high men. They see them as monsters that were created to cull the human population by Lemuria, pointing towards the Ken's own dietary needs.
>Lemurians: despite their many... Vampiric qualities, the hominids of Lemuria have no idea just what these things are. The focus on blood reminds them of their own rituals, and they can sympathize with their predatory nature, but... Some things are off. The eyes are too human, and the aversion to sunlight seems to be a very specific weakness.
>Mu: Kainites have souls that exist in both worlds. Mu can see into the dreamlands. They know.
>Angels have no idea just what these things are. Did Dad make them? Who is this Kaine guy anyway?
So far, three facts remain constant:
-1.) No two Ken are alike. Grendel and Grendel's mom don't even remotely resemble one another.
-2.) These things can range from Nosferatu to a fucking Dragon.
-3.) They dislike sunlight. Preferring the far north or dark forests.
The Ken may be the origin for many myths but not all of them.
