i genuinely think it has a lot to do with the rise of live service and games being updated in general.
in the past, if a game was hard- it was hard. that was its identity for good or bad. nowadays that things can be patched, it genuinely feels like people have come to the conclusion that getting filtered by something isn't a defeat because they can just get that one bullshit section nerfed, validating that it wasn't their fault that they lost, it was illegitimate game design.
I fucking hate it. It's miserable to interact with.
