I don't think that anon has a problem enjoying make-believe. Quite the opposite. If one likes engaging with the game earnestly, then when one wants to play a female character, they'll envision them as a character in which the "female" part isn't just writing down a gender on a sheet, but informs the character and their history. That's how I'd do it at least. If I wanna play a female character, they'll do stuff and go on adventures and be cool, but what they do and how they do it will not be the same as a male character.
