What are complex traits and why are they so important?

Simple Mendelian genetics fails for humans. Consider human height. If there was a tall gene and short gene, and one was dominant while the other recessive, then people would be two sizes, either tall or short.

And of course they are not. They come in a huge variety of heights.

Intelligence has many types, a purely mathematical intelligence is not capable of advanced innovation and novel formation. This is why east Asians cannot innovate like Europeans.
