I kinda get what you mean, mainly in his big band sorta sound. I find that he plays in a lot of different genres and sounds compared to Kirkhope. Then again, I don't know much of Kirkhope's works outside of Banjo.
Definitely look through this playlist because he's done a ton of shit for HAL and Kirby. Probably my personal favorite composer from HAL.
