I think I went into it a bit last thread but I think the differences do slightly hint towards what the "normal" state of the species is like.
I imagine Meteon's 3-pointed ears with a more batlike shape are innate compared to Elfilis's having more splits and a rounder shape, but the Starries accentuated that. I think the "true" form of the brothers is probably closer to Elfilis than Meteon given what we see of Meteon's larval form within the evil meteor, mainly the fact he DOES have the whiskers, which he loses in his crystal form. I believe that the original form probably is some sort of middleground between both designs, and each one was influenced by what they absorbed (Elfilis assimilating the mammals of the Forgotten Land, leading to him looking more like one, while Meteon absorbed the Starries, making him look more alien and sleek with crystal highlights. I'm genuinely fascinated by how much is implied about the species off of the differences in the brothers alone, makes me very glad I was always vague about Elfilis being the only one of his kind or not in my writing.

Oh the ink art one from last thread was me, I do definitely plan on drawing him some more. Still very damn happy with how this one turned out too. I will say, I'm incredibly happy his general anatomy is still the same as Elfilis's, it's muscle memory for me at this point so it makes drawing Meteon way easier to learn. Horns a bastard though.

I think thats a cool theory, although i wonder how you fit chaos elfilis into it considering he looks more like facto elfilis even though he doesn't have any other creatures absorbed.
Also any theories about meteonelfilis name? Elfilins name comes from nil life implying some connection to void (voids name is "nil" in japanese), fecto elfilis is literally perfect elfilis, but i have idea what elfilis comes from and even less of a clue what "genwel meteonelfilis" could mean other than the meteon part.

Oh yeah, funny thing about that, Chaos DOES seem to still have other creatures absorbed, he just swapped out Elfilin as a component with Morpho, note the way the animal souls show up during the death animation (picrel has the Buffahorn below him and the Gnawcodile on top), and the fact his figure description specifically says "A unique convergence of elements, from native-beast souls to ethereal butterfly", Chaos still has a lot of animals in him.

Oh yeah, fun fact about that, his name is "Genejoya" in Spanish for the "Genwel" part, so I can pretty confidently confirm that aspect is at least meant to be a combination of Gene + Jewel. As for the "Meteon" part though... It's interesting, in Japanese he's JUST "Mefirisu" as opposed to Elfilis being "Efirisu", but all translations consistently have the "meteor" implication across the board. I can only imagine it's an expansion on Elfilis's name but making it blunt he was sealed in the meteor instead of the capsule, probably to mirror the fact Elfilis's larval/chimera form is "Forgo" in reference to being sealed in the forgotten land? Food for thought.

Oh duh yeah i forgot about his death animation and figure description, kinda sad their souls are just forever dead but at least leon got to survive.
It being gene + jewel fits but i doesn't imply anything cool, also i think that "fecto forgo" means literally "perfection forgotten/forgone" so the meteon part being direction attached in front of efilis probably implies its more like a newer species/kind because its a full "elfilis" plus powerful in their own right starries whereas fecto elfilis is just a full elfilis plus a bunch of weaker animals that could be removed and not impact much. I think thats why meteonelfilis has an extra crystal core orb that regular elfilis doesn't.

Interesting thing about Chaos Elfilis in the novel, from what I remember translating, it's framed as though Chaos is almost an anger automaton of sorts, with Elfilin saying ""The thoughts of all the living things Fecto Elfilis has devoured have become a mess. It's not even a living thing anymore, just a black mass of thought." Retroactively though, I think this is kind of confusing given how the Spears figure says Elfilis took Ares once Meteon was defeated which feels like it implies more intent. As far as I know the newer novels are supervised by Kumazaki so that slight conflict in depiction makes me wonder if it was something they decided on later. Related to that: Chaos getting access to the power of the Starries by just taking Ares is incredibly interesting to me. Also worth noting, the "Lord of Chaos" title is a bit different in other languages, being "Godlike Species of Chaos" in Japanese (fun fact, both "Godlike Species" and "New Species" are pronounced Konton Shinju, but use a different kanji for the "Shin" part, which is where the difference comes from), while in Spanish it's "Being of Chaos", and Korean has similar wordplay to Japanese, going from "New Species" to "Starry Species" with similar pronounciation but different writing.
In terms of the Meteon suffix though, I see what you mean, fair point. I do think all the different versions point towards it being specifically related to meteors though, so there's probably some implications going on there through that. I do still think it's related to where each of them was imprisoned, personally, since I feel like the name "Forgo" also has to be specifically referring to the Forgotten Land seeing as all the translations specifically tie to the word "Forgotten" specifically rather than "Forgone", i.e. in Spanish it's Olvi, in French it's Oublio, in German it's Ver'Ges. I do genuinely think it's fascinating how much insight all the different translations offer.

It's all a bit complicated and it really makes me wish we'd get an official translation for the novels, if only for the sake of clarity. Also agree on the spears, really hope maybe next game we'll get them as a callback evolution in some way.
And fair enough on the forgotten aspect, given how the series is I wouldn't be surprised if it's supposed to reference both interpretations honestly.

Hey, to be fair the FL OST is still pretty big even without the SCW tracks, and I'd definitely say having it in its cleanest quality is worth it, plus the picture frame is a really nice bonus, you can even make your own stuff for it like the 100% SCW picture And hey, for all you know that frame might become some rare stuff down the line, seeing how the prints of the puzzle artwork from the Star Allies OST's first batch have become surprisingly rare nowadays. I will say though, yeah I can understand how it'd sting getting it and having that announced so soon, in my case I got it back in December so it genuinely was the most convenient way for me to listen to the OST freely until they tossed (some) of it onto Nintendo Music. Here's hoping SCW's tracks get at least a smaller jewel case release compared to the big boxes Nintendo soundtracks usually go for.

I played it as post-game but went out of my way to only use the ability evolutions I would've had by the point in the game the levels would be as brand new unlocks and had a good time. Have a friend who's playing FL for the first time who said the Starry stages flow pretty naturally into the existing stages though, could be worth considering. It's not like the stages are these big bumps in difficulty like, say, HiAD for example.

Unrelated to all that, do you guys have any theories for Starman and Broom hatter? I ask because those smash trophies really just recontextualize both of their characters with broom being a witch apprentice while Starman has heroic courage. Are these singular traits to just two members of their respective species or is this like an all Starman and Broomhatters thing?

I own that and those prints too, it’s nice having limited Kirby merch (although the FL soundtrack seems easier to get considering I could still buy it in the Kirby cafe’s shop back in June)

Kirby should talk like he does in the audio CD and have similar characterization to the novels,
I think the story should be a combination of dreamland 1/spring breeze and metaknights revenge where the plot leads from dedede getting his ass beat by kirby to meta knight getting frustrated at how dreamlands laziness let dedede almost get away with it. That way you have all 4 main characters in it and have them develop their dynamics as rivals but also friends.

It has to start somewhere and instead of forcing it, he just placed him in the spot light just like everyone else for the trailer. He's only as forced as you could say Cappy is and that's the core difference, Starman is defined as cute and has a cape. Then people start looking back at his past and trophy and the whole "he could be mistaken for the hero...has the courage of one" makes him a bit more likeable especially in the wake of Superman's latest greatest movie. All factors just came together for Starman to rise into being highly likeable with very little work since he wasn't hated before and was just around. Superman ironically paved the way for Starman's big break.

ancient return arc, it really feels like that's what we've been building to since we more or less know everything about them at this point plus hyness pretty much implied they are still around in some form (and the graffiti does say "see you in the NEW WORLD" which is implied to be dreamland), I imagine them being like doctor doom with magic tech, perhaps maybe the other three heroes of legend could show up.

Base Kirby seemed to have one of the shortest beaten out by maybe 3 others while Starman seems close to tied with blue Kirby and Red Kirby for distance and duration. You do know you can just play the beta now right? The boards play as you think, they are mainly just another option to the cars and are the boost stat. It's not a riders game third, it's a riders game not at all as there is very little different beyond animations. There are no special board only routes or things only a board can do, they are just there as an option.

I'll say this, I personally didn't like the all star games but I like this one and the beta has certainly sold me on what was going to be an iffy pre order of deluxe since I heard Tangle was gonna be in it down the line from leaks of a board or probable nods. I'd say it comes down to how chaotic the race can feel and how gears allow me to flat out bullshit come backs. It helps to not have the MKW issue of nobody being able to pull ahead since you can pull really damn far away in this one and there are only a few items I could really say were undodgable(main threat being a ghost that does a straight line attack that locks onto you first and will hit anyone in the thin path behind you, and the vehicle cutting one since that shit pretty much seems to have one of the furthest sightline based targeting in the game and even when I had a boost it seemed that the moment that shit left someone's hand I could do nothing about it.); the invincibility doesn't let you go over grass either, instead you need the monster truck which is a static form as even on the boards you will get the truck.

Current part of the beta now is team matches with special rules like ring collection for end tally, bumping players or tricks. Being more of a Sonic R & Riders type of guy(I liked Riders 1 but the rest kinda shit the bed on controls or made it simplified, and I prefer sonic to actually run for races) It's enjoyable

They do actually! Take a closer look when the 2 back away to shoot off the lasers that either multi hit you or go through portals, you can see their horns glow before the laser goes off, and the laser itself forms from the center of their horns! Both brothers do it, though Meteon enhances it with his ears on top. I'll post a screenshot as soon as I can

It's a bit hard to show through still images but the effect it has is of a line of light across the horns moving upwards from the base repeatedly, getting faster as it charges up more, Elfilis does the same with his. It's a small detail you'd never notice unless you look directly at it, but I do strongly believe the Elfilises use their horns in order to channel psychic energy in a more saturated way.

The fact we only get to see the crystalized form is something that miffs me, because I really wonder just how different Meteon is innately. I do still believe he has his Core exposed compared to Elfilis for the sake of having access to more "raw" psychic energy, all his animations really emphasize him as the more brutish of the brothers as far as I'm concerned, so he's willing to take the risk of exposing his essence for the sake of stronger raw power, while Elfilis fights to keep it inside himself.

I had a theory that the meteon orb/phase 3 is the same thing as elfilin/phase 2 chaos elfilis so its like the species has two parts to them and elfilis just expunged him as elfilin by accident so when you kill him hes just dead while meteon still has it so when you kill him (phase 2) hes still alive in a limited state. (phase 3)

I think it's implied to be a slight mix of both? He hovers slightly off the ground even when he "lands", and he only really flaps his ears as wings when he does quick movements, like when he backs away from the arena in the webm, or when he dashes to the side mid-air to change his positioning. He only uses them to physically move himself for more drastic position changes than usual I think.

NTA but part of me hopes that if they do a new version of it for Switch like Fighters 2 and Super Clash, I think it'd be neat if it was Adventure-inspired instead of Dream Land 1 inspired, getting top down interpretations of its bossfights could be fun.
