This is absolutely wrong. The fun isn't the issue it's the lack of getting the kid to contribute or be invested in something that will be self sustaining. Without that they will curse their own families and societies for raising them with no value. Instinctively people who are not subhuman know this. You can say a neet has a better life and society isn't worth contributing to but if asked to share a room with someone who has a job or someone who's entire existence is a room filled with refuse people will naturally revolt against the latter unless they are Indian.
Even the measures most take to get kids on the right path are worthless too. Kids turn to those forms of escapism because they don't believe anything they do will be of use. They know their family won't care, understand, or support what they are into, let alone help them find an interest. Infact most children are aware just not being good enough in a shared interest with their family is a cause for scorn and ridicule
