Yeah but I don't think Sauron is derived etymologically from Cronus .. like Saturn and Cronus are the same figure.. but their names are not related linguistically.

I think Sauron - apart from the SA-turn, SA-tan connection - is probably inspired of sauros .. in Latin: lizard, reptile. Essentially the serpent.
