My grandfather was a "gate hauler"

>drove a medium size truck with a 22 foot flat bed loaded 8' tall with gates
>drove hundreds, sometimes thousands of miles across the country delivering gates to farmers
>unloaded the gates himself with a helper
>If the farmer can't pay the gates are "peddled" door to door nearby
>slept in the truck a most of the time unless temperatures got too cold, then got a motel room
>gone for a week at a time
>three or four "gate trips" a year, otherwise full-time farmer

Was my grandfather a "trucker"?
