There is no worship in Tibetan Buddhism. It's not like Abrahamic religions, those are aspects of enlightenment and of forces within the world. Mahakalas name means "Great Time" and he also applies to archetypes Mahakala within ourselves. Mahakala symbolizes the power to overcome obstacles, transform negative emotions, and ultimately achieve enlightenment. Ultimately the concept of God in Tibetan Buddhism is extremely similar to Hinduism (because it evolved from Hinduism) with the same goal of attaining the higher consciousness and becoming one with the Dharmakaya, the primordial Buddha/Mind that Hindus call Brahma.
For example, my Yidam, Yamantaka, is me. Rituals are done to get closer to this and in deity meditation we become the deity.
>I'm not my body, this is me, the conquerer of death,
I am part of the Dharmakaya, just like you.
