I know this is the waifu thread but I want to get some Zelda-related 'tism off my chest.
I've been replaying the 3D games lately, and I'm beginning to realize that a vast, VAST majority of Zelda fans don't actually pay attention to what happens in these games. The Hero of Time alone is so absurdly mischaracterized that I'm left wondering what fucked up alternate dimension produced all these people, and more importantly, wondering how and why people just blindly went along with it.
The entire theme of Majora's Mask is easing and moving on from regret. The game isn't fucking subtle about this in the slightest. Link goes into the game, having been stripped of his feats as the Hero of Time and left without closure as to whatever happened with/to Navi. But Link's adventures in Termina resolve this - he doesn't need a prophecy or justification to be a heroic figure.
Deku are in an uproar and about to kill an innocent? He handles it.
Gorons are starving (again) AND freezing to death? He handles it.
The entire ocean is warming up and messing with not just the Zora but everyone in the Great Bay region? He handles it.
The dead of Ikana are being disturbed? He handles it.
Ayylmaos and thieves are fucking with the local ranch? He handles it.
And the entire time, Link is documenting his good deeds. The notebook is presenting him a record that clearly states that, even if he's not prophecized to be here, he's still a positive force. This culminates in acquiring the power of the Fierce Deity. An evil force worse than even Majora? He fucking handles that shit because, recognized or not, he is still a great HERO.
All of this culminates with the HMS giving his final speech about meetings and partings. It's the final piece of closure for Link. He's leaving Termina now, but it might not be forever. Navi said goodbye, but maybe they'll meet again some day. It's not something to agonize over, and so Link is able to end his fruitless search in good spirits.
Then TP threw this all out.
