>Wrong. He already played the violin when he was younger and owned a smaller one for beginners, but wanted to get back at it as a way to bond with Mari
Yeah that's exactly what I said. Sunny used to play a toy violin as a little kid, but he got bored of it and tossed it to the side as kids are known to do with their toys. Then he got real violin he didn't really ask for, got real sick of playing it real fast, so badly he fucking smashed the thing and killed his sister over it. Playing violin is clearly not a genuine hobby (those are meant to be pleasant and fulfilling) or a viable career path for Sunny.

Basil actually enjoyed taking photographs and taking care of flowers. The only drama related to it is Sunny destroying Basil's precious photos, because that's how Sunny rolls. Maybe he should get a job that involves destroying things?

>The gardening books in the shelves were noted to have belonged to his grandma. He probably only took up gardening when his grandma got sick as a favor for her
That's retarded. There's no indication that Basil's grandma was sick when Basil was 12. It's implied that Polly was a relatively new hire. So why would Basil's parents leave him alone with an ill woman for years? Unlike the photography hobby which was possibly new (Basil started taking photos of his friends when he made the friends) the gardening seems to go way back.

If anything, it's the other way around. Basil started neglecting his plants when his grandma got sick, because he was too depressed to take care of them. But he still has tons of plants in his room, after 4 years. Sunny got mindbroken by the violin after a couple of months of practicing.

So yeah, you're grasping at straws. The best argument you can make is "Basil's hobby was inspired by his beloved grandma" and...What exactly does this prove?

His "parasitic obsession" is a form of unconditional love. Basil covered up a crime for Sunny, who never did anything for his friends. He's better than Sunny.
