This picture is cool, you may even say it's literally the coolest thing ever, but actually, this fucking sucks.

It's so overdone that it's utterly boring. It inspires no interest whatsoever. Nobody looks at this and thinks "wow I gotta buy this and see what the story's about!" Because they already know the story, it's just more Batman, they've been doing this for 80 years, and it doesn't matter how cool they make the art, it's just more Batman.
Even if you've never read a single Batman comic, you already know it's just more Batman. There is nothing new or interesting to be found here.

They are approaching comics like an illustrator and not a director.

Furthermore, comic artists are incentivised to to draw things that can be later sold as prints, so everything becomes a flashy illustration. It is the goal of most comic artists to only draw covers and never internal pages
