I'm still /beg/ so my advice isnt' anywhere near final. Anyways, just start with tracing over figures so you get an understanding of your proportions. I chose a bad image here since they aren't anywhere close to the proportions I draw naturally. Just stick figures, basically.

There's also lines you'd need for the face (like loomis shit) so your eyes won't be in wonky positions. Everything has proportions that must be copied over and referenced until you have a good enough idea to draw a figure confidently.

You can turn pre-made poses into characters or OC's. When I was younger, I'd use bases to draw hair and clothes on to make characters I liked but those are more restrictive than the drawing over method I'm using here.
