MMOs like OSRS rides and dies by their vibes and "soul". If you have some magical angel wings with neon colors or some magical pet or worse some crossover with some fotm popular thing.
Yes. It would probably bring more money short term, but not in long term. The fact you are thinking cosmetic mtx addition just from how much it brings money to a game compared if it's good for the game's spirit and what it is built on is kinda strange. Like thinking the more money a game makes the better it is.
One of the best parts of OSRS when it comes to gear, is that you know said player has done something for their gear. ESPECIALLY on ironman/group ironman or if it's untradeable. Or skillcapes. Someone has Slayer skillcape? That bro has fucking grinded. Quest skillcape? Has high stats + has visited everywhere. Minigame/Boss pet? Must have been going at it or got spooned.
>No one cares what everyone else dresses up as
Yes they do. It's cool to see different gears people use, especially hilarious budget gear some people have for stuff like Wilderness bosses. Same with fashionscape G.E chatters.
Mtx cosmetics just would be a huge dent for the spirit of the game. Everything should be accessible by playing a game. Be it 100k fashionscape skirt from G.E or clue casket, or 100 hour boss grind.
RS3 lost it's playerbase due to fuckton of mtx and losing the spirit of Runescape completely. After all, Jagex did "the sensible thing" and tried to make RS3 more "modern" with EoC, as well as with mtx.
I just don't understand why you are obsessed with OSRS being able to make more money with mtx. It is strange attitude that game making more money means game would be somehow better. Sounds like "pay $1 to reload your gun when out of ammo" shit that the Activision/Ubisoft/EA guy said if I remember right.
