I'm not an SMfag retard, I think DP is the best Pokemon series. I have things I like about SM and things I dislike. Ash-centered episodes in SM usually suck with some exceptions, Kiawe episodes are a mixed bag because he became comic relief, the ENTIRE Nebby plot was a low point, the Alola League top 16 was mishandled tremendously, and again Ash SUCKS in SM.
However I also think XY has a ton of annoying shit. Going from BW Ash to XY Ash was a painful transition because while he became more competent, he also became insanely boring and doesn't have fun interactions with anyone. I hate how pushed his jobberfrog is, beating a Champion's ace is absurd. Just like the games I think the entire cast of rivals except the Sceptilefag are terrible. I felt completely disengaged from the romance subplot because Ash showed no signs of reciprocating, with the closest you got being the nighttime meeting. Pokemon Shows were just worse Contests. The finale with Zygarde sucked and robbed us of even showing Ash being bitter at all about losing the Kalos League (even the Rowlet fakeout had him show more emotion).
Despite this I think XY has some of the better battles, Hawlucha especially is great from start to finish. Citron is one of the best traveling companions Ash has ever had, I'd honestly put him on par with the original trio.
