if you beat miracle matter without 100% the crystal never purifies the big fairy and Kirby simply leaves after the celebration, all you get is that small smug glare as a hint that things aren't entirely wrapped up. I'd almost consider it intended for you to see that, since the last level probably seemed to come out of nowhere if you went straight to the main ending without ever seeing that one with the teaser.
