I'm sad that people are playing performative humanists/humanitarians.
They don't seem to understand how it works, it's not purity politics, never has been.
Bombs & bullets.
Sometimes death is necessary. If someone dehumanises others, if thy bring a net negative to society and oppress others then it's sad that a human life is lost, that potential has been snuffed out but if it was truly a wastrel, if they hoarded wealth or say preached the bible but didn't know what they were talking about.
Sucks to suck but it is what it is.
He died fast. That's as good as it gets from a humanitarian position. That's not even something he himself had advocated for in all his years, so really it's a mercy.
Being outraged that it's political violence or hypocritical is performative though. It requires you to ignore all other societal violence that is carried out. It requires you to then pass your own purity tests and you have to ground it in reality, seeing that almost every society either succumbs to violence or changes at the threat of violence.
Nobody knows if violence is human nature or it's the flaw of societal systems, you'll never get to know if it is in your lifetime so don't overthink it.
Today was yet another day that people remembered that despite thinking otherwise: their money does not protect them, their political privilege does not protect them and ultimately we all bleed. Except Peter Thiel, he sweats grease.
If this is truly breaking you up. Go to sleep, you'll feel better in a day or two. If you're truly crushed, idk man. Speak to Gemini Pro for like 3 and a half hours on philosophy and humanism, feed it quotes from the guy and enjoy the mirroring.
He wouldn't feel bad for someone else. He wouldn't care about their family and his family will be fine, lots of people grow up without fathers or husbands. Part of life within a society.
