Perhaps. FRTs and SS are ideally NOT gimmicks but rather good simulations of MGs. This means you should be able to run an overgassed gun, and pull the trigger as hard as one reasonably can to the rear with no issues. Atrius doesn't seem to market themselves as sellers of a gimmick/toy, but rather a true 2A company? I could be wrong, that is just my impression. I think you're right they're staking out a position right now though.

Yeah I have a feeling they're going to ride the current design, both geometry and materials, and the current pricing and profits for as long as they can. I think that financially it would be potentially enough to put them under if they were in a position where they might have to replace several thousand levers that are currently out there free of charge with an improved lever, especially if said improved lever was made from a better steel, increasing both material and machining costs.
