If you have land out in the county (much like myself) you're pretty alright even if you don't live there since a nuclear war wouldn't happen out of nowhere, tensions would rise and you would have some time to go innacountry. The world would be pretty fucked afterwards, and knowing how to decon yourself and things like water (which is kinda impossible, but you can cut down on rads exposed) is really important. Also get a geiger counter, even the cheap ones work good for detecting even Alpha if you take the lead shield off it. I'm kinda a nuclear-war autist because of fallout so I would know how to survive for at least a couple of minutes after
