I'm more curious (and this is a serious question in a not-serious thread) what the fallback is for USAF when their top-end gear eventually gets destroyed or attritted by required maintenance. F-18s? F-16s?
Even for F-22 which is supposed to be a new "workhorse" jet had ~180 units manufactured.
