I believe Mare's subscriber count is something like 140k. I've heard something in the range of 100k being cited. Those will likely include people who are not currently subscribed. For reference, the bancho census last found XIV has around 800k players. Yes, it's a not insignificant number.

The problem is you can't go home again. The community in XIV that was playing around 2017 is not a community you can replicate. Additionally, the likelihood between Square shapes up and doesn't get complacent and square rent-seeks more revenue from whales or from expanding the service to other areas (Switch, phone)?

It's not pessimism to think the latter. It's realism. And for reference when I checked how much this guitar brand normally costs we're talking high hundreds, low thousands, maybe 2.x thousand at the most.
