Tonight as n approaches infinity was finished by me. I have no real comprehension of it being a good fic. I think the best thing that can be said about it is it captures the mood of madoka almost expertly. When things go to shit, they go to shit hard for the cheery shonen shit sloppa cast. I'm impressed with how accurate the characters are to source material. The only one who's ooc on the meguca side is junko who is way more girl boss than she was in the original. I think subsumption does the open world meguca concept better, but bleachfags having an inner and outer world combined with madokas rebellion era witch as stands gives this impression.
All the build up and payoff was respected much better than I thought it would be. I don't have any respect for the author given she claims meme channels are evil and uncontrollable ( really ) but there was never a point where I felt the basic character values of the 5 where violated in service of the plot up and including their vices. Personally I think the cast was to big and it took away important scenes that ended up probably just being implied. Madokas hair being the connection to different timelines, the godly ness of her power, and the eventual future of it are only teased.
The one thing that continues to bother me about the fic in a meta sense is how preserved homura and madokas pain point of the entire drama of the show being their conflict with one another. Kyuubei also serves as madokas foil, but since he was defeated twice in canon if not more the remaining drama fans focus on is the incompatible nature between madokas desire for agency and relevancy, and to not be a burden on anyone she loves. With homura who's wish essentially requires her to be dependant. Madoka rejects this in every timeline, And it's hard to think of her being okay with it this time. The cast could explore this if it was trimmed down a bit but that's how it is on this gay fanfic earth. Unfinished works lay everywhere
