Getting real sick of this “uhh the origin of Digimon actually has nothing to do with the rise of digital infrastructure in human society and they’ve always existed since time immemorial and been mistaken for gods/cryptids/youkai” angle that Habu has been hammering in for the past two games.
All the silly meme Digimon have designs that make sense in the context of being born from literal human memes (the DNA of the soul). They do not fucking make sense if they live in a stereotypical fantasy isekai with next to zero relation to the human world. All the fucking setting dressing about vaccine/virus/data types and stat accessories being called attachments with CD icons and the host servers being called host servers don’t make any fucking sense unless you want to come up with some convoluted headcanon explanation like “digital infrastructure in the human world converged on concepts like anti-virus and servers independently and these just so happen to resemble fundamental building blocks of that Homeostasis used to create the fabric of reality”.
“W-woah, what if myths and legends are actually based on ancient Digimon that humanity ended up in contact with” rather than it being the other way around doesn’t make any fucking sense when humanity’s Greco-Roman legends predate the formation of the Olympos XII by several thousand years.
