I refer you back to Cicero >>520997806

"For nothing happens in the world more pleasing to that supreme Deity, who governs all the universe, than those gatherings and unions of men allied by common laws, which are called states. From this place do their rulers and guardians set out, and to this place do they return." -Cicero

I wouldn't say it is virtue if you'd destroy the entire political constitution (which accounts for the well being of the nation) over that, albeit I'm sure you'd make a pretense of Sodom and Gomorrah -- the point notwithstanding that the fruition of our values depends particularly on the fruition of a political constitution as well and Christianity has shown no interest in upholding this but like Rousseau says detracting from it...

This is responsible for Conservatisms inability to really march out of the churches and restore civil society, because Christianity has taught them to absently retreat to the Churches and treat civil society as one big public school and not try any of these aspirations... it has truly separated Church and State and opposed them, like Rousseau says, and that was a tendency from the beginning.

It is no different from Khomeini:
>"We do not worship Iran, we worship Allah. For patriotism is another name for PAGANISM. I say let this land [Iran] burn. I say let this land go up in smoke, provided Islam emerges triumphant in the rest of the world."

Catholicism views it the same way, just like the most low church prot slamming his country in name of Israel.
