Sure, Nintendo can charge $80 on a game they know is guaranteed to sell hotcakes. Rockstar can too. People won't be happy about it, but they'll pay because they know these things are high quality and worth the money.
But other random ass publishers and developers? Nobody's gonna buy your shit for an inflated price. Indie developers especially need to be wary of raising prices unless you're making something truly remarkable that has a large grassroots following.
