The strange thing is that nobody else has actually both fully committed to and successfully followed through with making the attempt at doing what skyrim does. Many games took some lessons from it but melded them with what they were already doing (Witcher 3, Zelda BoTW, plenty others), and there's an argument to be made that doing so resulted in some better games in their own rights, but not games that compete to do the same thing as Skyrim. Other efforts set out to do the same thing, but couldn't follow through (Avowed is clearest example), which probably goes to show that Bethesda was very well structured for that kind of project while other studios aren't.
Then of course there's Bethesda themselves, who have made the attempt and followed through with every release since, yet have failed to live up to Skyrim every time. This is because Bethesda peaked at Morrowind and have been getting more retarded with every release since, Skyrim just happened to fall within the peak confluence of still good enough to retain core appeal and retarded enough to appeal to the lowest common denominator. Every game since has gotten more retarded and so lacks ever more core appeal while getting diminishing returns on appealing to idiots.
