Most of you ship SonAmy for the wrong reasons. You like the cutesy fanart, the pining, the domestic bullshit. That's not it. That's never been it. The actual value in SonAmy, when it's not being written by absolute hacks, is that Amy is one of the only characters who fundamentally wants the same thing Sonic does: action and adventure. She doesn't try to tie him down or make him into something he's not. She picks up her hammer and tries to keep up. She's chasing the same thrill.
At her core, Amy is proactive. She's not content to wait in a base for orders. She goes out and DOES things. That's a character who can actually work alongside a "windnic" protagonist. The problem is that for decades, writers have been too cowardly to commit to that. They've sanded her down into a one-note fangirl gag or, even worse, whatever the hell Flynn was doing with her in everything he writes.
