let's discuss leather jacket alternatives. the way i see it the classic cropped fit type of leather jacket is a rugged and casual alternative to the sport/suit jacket. post any jackets you know of that fill that same niche and why you like it:
>vintage wool sports jackets
things are so underrated. i almost don't want to blow up the spot. they are rare and hard to come by because they are old and moths ate a lot of them, and good repro is few and far between + the zips won't ever be as good. but when good ones do come up for sale they don't sell for very much. you can get a nice one for around 50-100% of the price of an entry level decent leather jacket. if you are a poorfag or a reseller you can find these things at estate sales and on boomer b/s/t facebook groups.
>black denim
le budget leather jacket. good for metal/punk people who might not be ready to commit to heavily modifying a $1000 jacket. hard thing is finding black denim in a cropped fit.
>indigo denim
different vibe but it essentially fills the same role as a leather jacket, except it doesn't look as 'nice' and it's more rugged and breathable but less protective.
>moleskin
very hard to find moleskin jackets that aren't elongated fit but the ones that are out there are very nice. i think it's a superior option to suede if you want that short piled look. and it's the best leather jacket analogue if you want something breathable. they are great for cold places that don't rain and 3 season type weather. ooe yofukuten's moleskin cossack jacket is an example of one i like.
>waxed canvas
in theory would be a great alternative. in practice most jackets have an elongated look and don't fit the bill. if you have a longer torso the filson short lined cruiser is the one to get.
>unwaxed canvas and duck
vintage carhartt jackets especially in the black and darker colors have the right look. if you have short enough arms consider the women's version it looks better on most guys under abt 6'2.
