It is indeed very underrated.
I also like that unlike FFT or TO is that VH2 looks the part. Cant take the serious moments of FFT with that chibi art or TO with the characters with oversized botoms.
VH2 is very gritty and gruesome and the art direction really complements that.

Absolutely the best part of the game.
I was expecting more from the childhood friends, namely Yuri and Clive, but they needed more.
Nicola on the other hand is very interesting and involved.
Funny enough the recent drama with FFT Remaster is no spanish translation as it was never translated I think but we did get VH2 localized.

Vandal Hearts 2.
While I started playing some old rpgs, most of them I can only take them at intervarls.
Like I started Tales of Phantasia and Langrisser 2.
I still intend to continue but they have not grabbed me like say old school FF did.
Vandal Hearts 2 on the other hand captivated me. Yes the art direction is "bland" but man does it fit the setting so much.
Unlike the other SRPGs like FFT, Langrisser or Fire Emblem, the art direction, sprites and portraits actually lead to some heavy events explored like the initial massacre, the second gen in town massacre and others to actually hit.
The gameplay is unique and while some say its easy, I have had a few gruesome battles.
Also love the progression as you constantly get new weapons with new skills to learn and use.
In general easily the best retrogame I have gotten into so far.
I am already on my second playthrough with the Spanish localization (Something FFT and TO didn't get) and plan a third down the line with the mod that makes it play like your average srpg enemy/player phase.
Great find for me.
