I agree. The mechanics aren't bad, there's just not much reason to engage with them because of the severe balance issues. It's a shame BR1 never at least got a higher difficulty option patched in like BR2 did (though it's annoying that the two higher difficulties are locked behind beating the game for no real reason.)
