It's not just basic edgy Satan imagery (though that's probably in there for the cool factor). I'm fairly certain it's riffing off of Gnosticism in typical Homestuck fashion. Vriska is the Snake on her way to the Garden (Deltritus), trying to disrupt Ult!Dirk's (Demiurge) control of the players (Adam & Eve) of his session.
The way she seems to be set up in bonus comics and what little we see of her after Helltier is like as a big sister/mentor figure to the Omega Kids, so in that way she's offering knowledge to those under the Demiurge's thumb to free them. Also, in a way, putting aside her old Thief of Light tendencies both because she's not going to try and be the main character (and steal the spotlight) but also because she will be offering knowledge/light instead of taking it.
