I have recently got my hands on a smart TV from TCL running Google TV. After setting it up with channels and a Google account. I started watching YouTube, but there are a lot of ads that make the watching experience painful. So I booted up my Linux machine and installed Pi-hole on Docker and set it as the DNS server for the TV. But the ads unfortunately persisted. I then tried to set the DNS servers as AdGuard which also failed. So I come to ask you guys: How can I block advertisements on my TV without paying for a YouTube Premium subscription? Is there perhaps something I am doing wrong with Pi-hole? Maybe there's some blocklist or some setting specifically designed for smart TVs? I also heard that ads in the YouTube app for smart TVs are served from the same domain as the content so it's harder to block them. In any case I request your urgent help with matter and offer my sincere thanks in advance.
