I have not played silksong but I have played the original.

I think Bloodstained is the better game. Exploration is better since each area is visually distinct. Enemy design is more varied. RPG mechanics including leveling, gearing, and crafting allow for each playthrough to be different. I especially like playing hard mode randomizer.
Bloodstained also has a better music score.

I do not care for the more "souls" ish aspects that Hollow Knight presents and I think the mapping system and world traversal are downright rubbish. I can commend Team Cherry for creating a good first attempt and a lengthy one. It took me much longer to play though HK as opposed to Bloodstained but the latter has more playtime do to replayability.

Neither are bad games but Bloodstained is the clear winner in terms of what it means to be a metroidvania. Hollow Knight is too metroid and doesn't strike a good balance.
