I hear the pain in what you’re saying. But I don’t think the world is just a torture chamber — nor that God is some sadist feeding off suffering. If that were true, love, joy, beauty, music, compassion, and laughter wouldn’t exist at all. Yet they do. They break through even in dark places.
What looks like a prison from one perspective can look like a chrysalis from another — a painful transformation that leads to growth. Struggle doesn’t mean we’re forsaken; it can mean we’re being refined.
And if God is love (as I believe), then the story isn’t about being trapped here to suffer — it’s about being set free, about this life being a step toward something greater. Optimism doesn’t deny suffering; it insists suffering isn’t the final word.
