might as well post what these factory seconds of mine look like.
top is an FK500, basically a kcb77 that has a regular handguard and no bayonet connector, but mine evidently was assembled with the bayo handguard.
middle is an SEK-P (double edged, double serrated) sorted out for being labeled as a different model but otherwise pristine. the best find of the bunch, on knifecommand one of these (albeit with sheath, unlike mine) is $285. which admittedly is overpriced for a little slab tang N695 knife even if the fit and finish is on point.
and then the bottom one is the FK2000. I genuinely don't know what's supposed to be factory second, as far as I can tell it's in perfect condition and correctly assembled. I did see one on ebay at the time where the blade was put in wrongly, with the edge pointing the other way, but that's not the case here. it leaves a very positive impression of eickhorns level of quality control if this counts as second rate.
might try my hands at making sheaths for these someday.
