Have there ever been any examples of the inverse?

The only examples I can think of are Uncharted/The Last of Us with it going from Amy Hennig to Druckmann

Did everyone forget the Chris Hansen Onision thing? It was a total nothingburger. I don’t think he’s interested in this thing beyond the money being generated from name recognition

Almost all of these “video essays” are made by uninformed dipshits with nostalgia goggles grafted to their faces. Iwata was a great man, but he had his fair share of faults as a businessman that people just ignore for the sake of making the situation seem bleaker than it is.

Under Iwata’s leadership, Nintendo still took down fan projects, had a policy that restricted you from posting gameplay of their titles online without a loicense, thrust themselves into an era of stagnation in their most beloved franchises, and slowed their production of new games to a crawl due to their lack of foresight into how difficult HD development would be.

I’m willing to call Nintendo out for being annoying with their draconian copyright enforcement and pricing strategies, but neither of these things are new for the company. Hell, I’d say Nintendo is doing better in a lot of ways since Iwata’s death: they’ve finally figured out how to keep their niche franchises alive and consistent, they’re releasing games at a breakneck pace all the time, and they’ve loosened up a lot with their stances on online creators. I don’t see their legal team easing up on emulation or fan projects anytime soon though
