Bought a used 2017 Grand Cherokee in 2021 with 30k miles, currently have 68k miles. Carfax was clean, no accidents, dents and everything worked. Changed oil regularly and did basic maintenance. Few months ago the car suddenly started overheating while I was driving back home. Check Engine light came on and the temp was going up and down. Drove it to the closest auto store and noticed my coolant was empty, which it shouldn't have been because I just got it topped up a few months prior to that. Let the car cool down for about 45 minutes, put more coolant in and the Check Engine light went away and didn't have any problems for another 4 months until...

Suddenly the car is overheating again. Same thing, went to the store, bought more coolant and the car was "fine". A week goes by and once again the car is overheating. Coolant is empty. Okay, obviously I have a coolant leak. I get it to the stealership and they do some diagnostics and tell me I more than likely have a Blown Head Gasket and need to replace everything, which would easily cost 12k+. I said I'm going to get a second opinion, especially after they tried fucking me over on the costs of the diagnostics.

Got it to a shop that specializes in this specific issue and they did their own tests and told me it is definitely a Blown Head Gasket and that it's just the top half. Their quote was $10k but no more than $12k. They apparently have the machining in house as they specialize in this kind of work.

Surely, there is no way it cost this much to fix this issue. I live in Hawaii if that has anything to do with the prices.
Another issue is that I still own $9k on the car.
