MGS3 has a very heavy sepia/green/yellow colour palette with heavy bloom that gives it a distinct look which has been totally lacking in the Delta footage since the start, it just looks generic, the legacy filter adds a green tinge to the game and also seems to adjust some lighting and contrast in cutscenes to mimic more off the original look. Seems universally considered the superior look so people are wondering why it wasn't how the game looked all along.
