>I still get pimples and never have a clear face
tret does not fix acne, it speeds up cell turnover in your skin and gets the stuff thats deep in your skin to the outer layer faster (purging). afterwards, you basically see less of acne. the underlying cause might be anything (diet, unhealthy lifestyle, hormones, environmental effect etc)
>Should I go cold turkey and see what happens?
you could, but more important is what your doc said
>How many days would it take for my skin to no longer be dependent on the products?
your skin is not dependent on tret after you started using it. i think retinoic acid (this is the thing that tret becomes once in your skin) is synthesized in your body anyway, regardlesss of retinoid usage
it is advised to continue using sunscreen 1-2 weeks after last retinoid application

hmm does it flare up during longer sun exposure? are you using sunscreen? see if it calms down in a few days, stay inside
>Everything topical burns, even water
consider going to derm

best would be going to derm if possible

i usually look up clinical data when in doubt about any ingredient i hear about. iirc, topical snail mucin has positive effect on wound healing so its possible it can help with irritation/redness. heard its a little overrated though
