Forgive the terrible art, it's the best I can do, but this is kind of what I imagine it like. Things *kind of* where the ribs would be that can flare open and also lead into the body a little bit. There's all sorts of neat plates and structural stuff that makes it look all cool like a robot opening up a hidden cache of missiles (yeah) but I'm too terrible to even attempt that. Also, pardon him, he's attempting to partake in the human passtime known as 'body language.'

But yeah, fronds on both sides. Maybe the length of the fronds would be a little longer in the front just for some asymmetrical flair. And their tongue is extendy like that, exactly!
