yeah but for irrelevant shit like this member states tend to follow eu directives, politicians don't give a shit about video games and if they see that it earns them brownie points with the population then they're usually just go "yeah okay", it's only more relevant shit like migration and sanctions where member states say "no fuck you"

technically, but not really, they can threaten fines, but no one pays them, they can threaten withdrawing eu funds, but they never do, lots of countries like poland, hungary, slovakia, czechia told the eu to go suck a dick when they were told that accepting migrants is an eu directive, since then the eu spent 10 years bitching and whining and none of the countries ever gave a shit, an eu directive being passed doesn't mean it's law, it's then up to the countries whether they implement it or not, but no one gives enough of a fuck about video games to bicker about it, if the eu passes some directive about video games or whatever then member states will just follow it, because who cares
