Going to a place where you can be served overpriced drinks and spend time with strangers is entirely alien to me. Getting drunk on such a place would cost you a lot, too.
My idea of getting buzzed is to order several crates of beer, drag a couch to the sidewalk in front of my place and invite a dozen friends to drink in the afternoon until it gets dark.

Also, remember that social bars are largely places where women go so that men can buy drinks for them. If a guy is getting drunk, he's just being a nuisance to everyone else. You're supposed to be making ladies drunk, not yourself.
